Formica Issues #FormicaChallenge
EAST LYME – Paul Formica the Republican candidate for the 20th State Senate district, Tuesday issued the #FormicaChallenge on his campaign’s official Facebook page.
“Here in East Lyme when we started with our budget I challenged our department heads to not spend 1.5% of their budget and return the funds to the town. I offer the same challenge the same to all candidates in the state receiving state campaign financing. Let’s be efficient and return 1.5% of each of our campaigns back to the state of Connecticut. I am going to do it and hope you will, too.”
According to the State Election Enforcement Commission webpage the grants vary from $27,850 for State Representative to over $6.5 million for governor. If every candidate accepts the #FormicaChallenge it would mean hundreds of thousands of dollars returned to the state.
Formica, the First Selectman of East Lyme, is the owner of Flanders Fish Market, a restaurant in its 30th year of operation. Formica has been active in cooperating with regional towns along the shoreline, to seek solutions on the issues of transportation and commerce.
The 20th District includes the towns of Old Lyme, East Lyme, Salem, Bozrah, New London and Waterford as well as portions of Montville and Old Saybrook.
